Paul Kelly: I lost my sister to suicide – but I still have faith we can tackle issue

AT times around World Suicide Prevention Day, I am always heartened by the constructive and progressive discourse that we all have the ability to generate on the terribly difficult topic of suicide here in Ireland.

In the past, the complex muddle of reactions, emotions and intricacies associated with suicide have usually left us without the right words, the valuable conversations, or successful strategies to reduce suicide occurrence across the island.

Today, we have access to more knowledge, more understanding and have more potential to effect change than ever before.
