The emigrant voting issue is a chance for political parties to show they mean business about working together.
As Dail Eireann descended into another farce of one-upmanship last week, one had to despair for the future. Because, based on last week's nonsense, the future will be a replica of the past.
The last thing we needed was another bout of "you denied it but you were caught on tape" histrionics. Deja vu seems to be one of the traits of Irish politics, and what we get is largely to be expected.
