Dublin Airport was a picture of chaos and human misery yesterday as relentless snowfalls dashed the travel plans of thousands of would-be passengers.

From New York, Paris, Poznan and Zurich to Donegal, Cork and Kerry, the flight notice boards were a chain of disappointments, and if a flight wasn't already cancelled it was only a matter of time.
