Nicola Anderson: 'Good news at last for struggling town'

WITH a derelict, half-built shopping mall in the centre of town and another restaurant forced to shut its doors for good last week, business of late has been far from easy.

Once a thriving commuter town with a neat line in swanky hotels, bijou shops and chi-chi boutiques, Naas in Co Kildare -- like everywhere else -- has been feeling the chill wind of the recession for many years.

Empty retail units blight the Main Street and many shopkeepers admit every day is a struggle.
