The 125 guests included Michael Flatley and his wife Niamh O'Brien, Brian O'Driscoll and Amy Huberman, Bill Cullen and Jackie Lavin, Trinity College provost John Hegarty, British Ambassador Julian King and his wife Lotte Knudsen, businessman Tony Ryan and Olympic Council of Ireland chairman Pat Hickey. Aer Lingus chief Christophe Mueller, businessman Feargal Quinn, and representatives from the academic and artistic fields also attended.

The party feasted on an informal "cocktail menu" of mini-burgers, spinach and mushroom parcels, west coast crab and Kildare cheese tuile with dried Irish beef.
