Nicholas Leonard: Cameron must be hoping that the young never decide to vote

When the stress of being deputy prime minister becomes unbearable for Nick Clegg, he slips away for a furtive cigarette. Yesterday on Desert Island Discs he nominated smoking as his choice of luxury on the island.

The prime minister, David Cameron, has managed to give up cigarettes completely. His escape from the pressures in Downing Street is a few minutes on his iPad playing a simple but addictive little game called 'Angry Birds'.

It's good news for Cameron that the game's makers are about to release two new Halloween editions of 'Angry Birds' to test his skill because on every other front things look extremely bleak for him.
