Just 12 months ago, Micheál Martin and his small team of advisers met in Fianna Fáil headquarters to discuss the latest twist of the General Election campaign.

Hours earlier, Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny took the first step towards what many already believed was inevitable: Some form of deal with Fianna Fáil.

The rest, as we all know, is history.
