Anyone who harbours doubts surrounding Gerry Adams's connections with the IRA would be advised to listen to the interview he gave to his local radio station, LMFM.

In extraordinary detail, he told of a meeting with an unnamed IRA volunteer whom he says led an internal investigation into the 1983 murder of Brian Stack.

The volunteer, Mr Adams says, acknowledged that Mr Stack was gunned down by the IRA but insists the hit itself was not sanctioned at senior level.
