Michael Brennan: Banks' dirty linen needs to be aired in full public view

THE Green Party wanted a "hybrid" inquiry into the near collapse of the banking system that would have been held both in public and private.
But it is now clear that the only hybrid they have got was the Toyota Prius which shuttles leader John Gormley around.
The Commission of Investigation model announced by Taoiseach Brian Cowen in the Dail yesterday will suit his purposes. Although its terms of reference have yet to be drawn up, there has been no commitment to hold any major part in public.
