Cardinal Seán Brady, Archbishop of Armagh, has written to GAA county boards in his diocese to request the rescheduling of games that clash with Sunday morning Mass. No excuses, no fudging, no guff about learning curves.
Just the taking of decisive action to ensure that what an Irish Bishops' Conference described as "the spiritual needs of children and adolescents" are respected. Confronted by what they regard as grave matters of morality, the hierarchy will always do the right thing.
