Mary Kenny: Forget the cynics, we still have deep longing to wed
If Chelsea Clinton's wedding photographs are published, in lavish and colourful detail, in some glossy magazine such as the 'American People' or the international editions of 'Hello' magazine, will we buy such publications to pore over the self-same photos? You bet we will!
We will want the dope on Chelsea's frock, on the celebrity guests, on the vegan menu and gluten-free cake, the marquee and posh mobile lavatories, and even the innovative inter-faith marriage ceremony conducted by a Methodist minister and a Jewish Rabbi. (If Chelsea looked fetching in her Vera Wang frock, the bridegroom Marc Mezvinsky certainly looked, well, committed, in his yarmulka -- the Jewish skullcap -- and Hebrew shawl.)
Was the wedding canopy, the chuppah, featured, and did they ritually smash a glass before the dancing started?
