Mandy Johnston: Leadership can't be taught, it's inherent – and Brian can lead like no other
Recently, I sat with 199 other people to listen to a man talk about leadership. It was 7am, city centre Dublin. Outside it lashed rain. Inside, notwithstanding the early hour, the attentive audience were fully seated, dressed in their Sunday best. They waited like giddy, earnest, eager little schoolchildren hoping for a nugget of wisdom.
Or even to catch a fleeting glimpse, a smile, a nod in their direction or maybe even a sneaky picture. And that was just the men!
Brian O'Driscoll spoke for 55 minutes. In that time, he gave a masterclass on how to motivate others, on how to harness and maximise team effort and individual potential. It was without a shadow of a doubt the most honest and honourable attempt to genuinely share knowledge that may be useful.
