Maeve Dineen: We won't know if Lenihan was right until around 2020

ONE aspect of Brian Cowen's botched and disappointing Cabinet reshuffle has gone almost entirely unnoticed, but it is the most important -- his unswerving backing for Finance Minister Brian Lenihan.
The Taoiseach has been rightly criticised for demoting some talented ministers and shuffling others around without actually changing anything, but there was not even the slightest hint that he wanted to move Mr Lenihan.
That the Finance Minister remained in situ was expected but, like the dog that did not bark in the Sherlock Holmes story, it is nevertheless hugely important.
