Lise Hand: Reilly's stately pile helps fly the flag for Moneygall's July 4 festival

The good burghers of Moneygall may be sorely disappointed that the Obama kids Malia and Sasha weren't dragged to their daddy's ancestral home in Offaly this week, in between the other fun teenage diversions such as visiting libraries, theatres and venerable monuments such as Bono. Sorry, Glendalough.

The Government has been at pains this week to stress that the programme for Michelle and the girls was put together solely by the US administration and its embassy, with no input beyond logistical assistance from our lot.

But the gra for all things US of A remains undimmed in Moneygall, and the village is holding an extended four-day American Festival from July 4 to 7.
