BERTIE used to drive the Opposition bananas. They'd throw all sorts of mud at him in the hopes that something negative would stick to his Louis Copeland suit.
He was -- at least until the Mahon Tribunal proceedings began to follow him about like a bad smell -- truly the Teflon Taoiseach.
However, although it's a matter of conjecture as to where his successor buys his suits, one thing is certain -- they don't come ready-coated in the same useful substance. Au contraire, Brian is fast becoming more of a Velcro Taoiseach.
