Lise Hand: Nothing Nobel or noble in Enda and Gerry's snarling scrap

ENDA was like Travis Bickle from 'Taxi Driver' on tranquillisers, alternating between pugnacious shape-throwing and soporific rambling. No doubt about it, the peace-loving spirit of Alfred Nobel didn't follow the Taoiseach home from Oslo.
An ill-tempered mood pervaded the Dail chamber during Leaders' Questions yesterday. As the dark clouds of discontent rumble ominously on the horizon over various measures in last week's Budget, tempers within Leinster House are becoming noticeably frayed.
But (so far), the Government isn't for turning. Nonetheless, there's a palpable air of unease in the corridors in advance of crucial and – for the creaky Coalition – potentially divisive votes on the Social Welfare Bill this week.
