Lise Hand: Enda's tip to techies on downloading pints
THE Web Summit in Dublin this week may have been fizzing with new-fangled businesses and young entrepreneurs, but the politicians still know the value of a bit of social networking in the old-fashioned notion of the word.
The Taoiseach dropped into the Shelbourne Hotel on Thursday night to mingle with the Founders – an elite club of CEOs and company funders in the tech world – before they all left on an organised pub-crawl. "Make sure it doesn't turn into an Irish pub crawl, where none of you leave the first bar you go into," Enda jokingly advised them. He also ended up in a prolonged chat with Bono and Ali, who had dropped by to hang out with some of the top tech dogs.
Meanwhile, Fine Gael young gun Eoghan Murphy was attending a rival event in Residence, the Flounders club, a tongue-in-cheek alternative gathering for Irish entrepreneurs who have yet to attain the dizzy heights of the Founders.
