Lise Hand: Brian's carved up after Conor axed lyrically on cuts
IT'S an unpropitious time to be filling the air with wild talk of sharp implements. Nerves are in flitters in the corridors of power during these uncertain days.
Sure wasn't it only over a week ago that daggers flashed in Fine Gael and stilettos slid into Enda? And aren't the opposition up in arms over the Government's busy use of its guillotine to chop off prolonged debates over the usual gridlock of legislation being bundled through the Oireachtas before the summer break?
And as for any mentions of axes ... well, that's the worst yoke of all. Jobs are axed, expenses are axed, ministerial budgets go under the axe -- and if the budgets aren't sufficiently axed by the ministers, then it's the ministers themselves face the unpleasant fate of getting axed.
