Lise Hand: Benedict greeted with more respect than 'luff'

'You arrived in rather a small car," observed Queen Elizabeth to her distinguished guest shortly after he arrived at Holyroodhouse yesterday morning.

But then, the British monarch can afford to be a bit pass-remarkable, given that six pontiffs have come and gone during the 58 years she has been occupying her throne.

And Benedict XVI did indeed make a bit of a modest entrance to Britain at the start of his four-day visit to Scotland and England (poor Wales didn't even make the cut).
