Lise Hand: Bailout bedlam takes hold in Loonster House

John Gormley was mad as hell, and flew right over the cuckoo political nest that is Leinster House last night.
During the statements on the IMF bailout, John confirmed the deepest suspicions of a deeply suspicious electorate that our national parliament is at times akin to an asylum.
Perhaps it was that the strain of the past turbulent weeks finally got to him and he chose to let fly at Eamon Gilmore: "It has been stated by deputies on that side that you have been placed now in a straight-jacket and I think perhaps that is a very apt analogy in more ways than one, because when you enter government during this crisis, you are entering an asylum, believe you me," he said.
