Let's slash corporation tax to boost our economy
LAST Thursday European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet described Europe's economic turmoil as probably the biggest upheaval since the First World War. In Ireland, however, it is even worse than that.
Our economy is 14 per cent smaller than two years ago. More than one-in-three young workers are now on the dole.
We have already had €15bn in budgetary adjustments foisted upon us. There are lots more to come. So far this year, government revenue is 40 per cent down on three years ago. But spending is 10 per cent up.
