Legal high-flyers should give those expenses to charity
Three judges have submitted a claim for half a million in travel expenses, writes Eamon Delaney
JUST when you thought it couldn't get any worse in terms of soaking up taxpayers' money, along come my learned friends from the Mahon Tribunal with their travel expenses, which seem to involve journeys both to and from the tribunals themselves.
The expenses claims for two of the Mahon tribunal judges, Mahon himself and Judge Mary Faherty, for the years 2007 and 2008, totalled €100,630.90. €74,419 of this total related to Judge Mahon's expenses.
It appears that these expenses were paid to the judges by the Courts Service.
