At the crunch eurozone summit on Wednesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French premier Nicolas Sarkozy were all smiles, presenting a united front to the world's press in their bid to shore up the economic crisis.
The carefully choreographed appearance was a far cry from their press conference last weekend when they both let their guard down. "Do you trust Mr Berlusconi?" was the curve ball pitched at Sarkozy and Merkel after the pair had given Italy's PM a public dressing down for dragging his feet on key reforms to save the eurozone.
Both leaders turned and exchanged helpless smiles, with Sarkozy briefly casting his eyes up to heaven, provoking guffaws from the gallery.
