Kim Bielenberg: Empty Aviva is perfect escape from the crowds
ON a sunny Sunday afternoon the Aviva Stadium was the unlikely place to escape from the madding crowds. Just minutes before kick-off it seemed like just three men and a dog would turn up for the friendly international between Ireland and Georgia.
An Irish fan up among the cavernous empty spaces in the West Upper stand confidently told the Irish Independent he could count the people there.
Seasoned observers during Ireland's 4-0 victory put the crowd at 15,000, but the official figure was just over 20,000.
