WITH a stellar 92pc satisfaction rate in this poll, Mary McAleese is going to be one hard act to follow. But it may be that voters are now looking to return an older man to the Aras.
Two candidates will be happy with the poll results: David Norris continues to lead, as he has done since our first presidential poll last September, with 21pc backing nationally, while the newly nominated Labour candidate Michael D Higgins emerges as a very strong contender with 19pc of first preferences.
These two frontrunners appeal to quite distinct voter groups.
