Ken O'Brien: Lobbying on behalf of IFSC's 'lobbyists'
Ken O'Brien, publisher of 'Finance Dublin', responds to calls for Dublin's financial hub to contribute more tax
THE IFSC this year celebrates the 25th anniversary of its foundation in 1987, part of which was the establishment of an innovative government development body -- the IFSC Clearing House Group (CHG).
The CHG was set up under the co-ordinating role of the Department of the Taoiseach, which, to quote the department's own description of itself in the 2012 edition of the Finance Dublin Yearbook, is "an informal" structure.
It is appropriate, 25 years later, to subject such "informal" structures to rigorous examination -- all the more so in the light of the role of the global financial and domestic banking sectors in the economic crisis.
