IT is approaching that time of year again when we start to look back on the events of the past twelve months in order to review or paint a broad picture of the year that is about to pass.
Obviously, through Irish eyes the two elections, economic meltdown in the Eurozone and the visits of Barack Obama and the Queen to our shores are sure to feature as memorable moments of 2011.
The warm welcome bestowed upon the Queen in May shows just how far Anglo-Irish relations have come. Her poignant visit to Croke Park, and those wonderful shots of Prince Phillip brandishing a hurley stick with a bemused expression on his face, brought back memories of another important day in our recent history where ghosts of past conflicts between our two countries were laid to rest; the English rugby team’s first time to play at Gaelic Headquarters in February 2007.
