Julian King: Visit a symbol of how we can work together

Julian King

Like many other people across Ireland, I watched as Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh made their way from Buckingham Palace to attend their grandson's wedding.

The splendid events of the day reinforced my view of the significance of the Queen's visit to Ireland in a few days' time.

Like the royal wedding, the state visit is a historic as well as a personal occasion. And, as the blanket TV coverage from London showed, it provides an opportunity for Ireland's legendary hospitality and heritage to shine on the world stage.
