John Downing: A harsh lesson for Gilmore on the perils of being in power

AFTER three weeks, the nation is royally 'Reilly-ed out', listening to unrelenting, contradictory twists and turns in the saga of primary care centres for Dr James Reilly's constituency.

But Eamon Gilmore and the Labour Party cannot 'flick channels' as easily as the rest of us -- they find they are really stuck with this tale of the Health Minister.

They also find that Dr Reilly has just been the conduit to bring them the grim lesson their more senior members have expected since entering Government on March 9, 2011.
