Jody Corcoran: We're being fed failure dressed up as success
Given that we voted Yes, we'll get a new deal on debt, right? Well, the future will be tortuous and complex... writes Jody Corcoran
If anybody believes the "new" Government acts -- or would have acted -- in a manner different from the last, then surely the performance of the Taoiseach last week has ripped away what was always a fallacy so threadbare.
In general, we speak of Ireland's interactions with Europe, or its various authorities, Germany and the ECB in particular, towards whom the Government peeks over a wall inscribed 'Kilroy was here', or Gilmore was there.
The joke is on us.
