TO GIVE the benefit of the doubt, that is, to be charitable, everybody is entitled to charity, even those in positions of responsibility in the charities and NGOs which have been revealed to be in receipt of vast sums of money.

And we are talking vast sums here.

Last week it was reported that, in 2012, Irish non-profit organisations employed 100,000 people with pay costs in the order of €3.5bn, total income of more than €6bn and holding assets of more than €3.5bn.
