Jody Corcoran: Noonan and Co need to stop treating us all like fools
The Finance Minister wilfully distorted a poll to come up with the opposite of the truth.
IN AN otherwise informative interview on Prime Time last week, Michael Noonan used a strange kind of logic to claim that up to 70 per cent of voters supported the Government's austerity measures. In fact, the Finance Minister made a point that he did not fully intend to make.
Broadly speaking, coalition partners Fine Gael and Labour adhere to the same austerity policies as laid down to Fianna Fail by the Troika.
But here is the point Mr Noonan did not intend to make – the body politic is not unduly concerned about the almost one-third of voters who seem totally disillusioned with mainstream politics.
