James Downey: 'Greatest peacemaker' is bent on destroying FF

SINN Fein's leaders have no small opinion of themselves. They have talked for years about the Northern Ireland peace process as if they had invented it, and driven it, themselves. They recommend it as a model for other countries, as if circumstances were the same everywhere.
Now Martin McGuinness tells us, without a blush, that he has an "unequalled" record as a peacemaker. Well, I have been around and close to events throughout the entire Northern Troubles and that claim does not accord with my recollection.
Several other names occur to me. Just a few examples. John Hume. Bertie Ahern. Tony Blair. Remember the fellow with a face redder than his hair? Yes, that was David Trimble.
