James Downey: Coughlan delay over jobs offer flies in face of logic
AS THE good old saying has it, standing on one's dignity is a very undignified stance.
Through most of yesterday, Mary Coughlan continued to stand on her dignity in her quarrel with Michael O'Leary. Yesterday evening, she came crashing down. This accident had been waiting to happen ever since Taoiseach Brian Cowen made her Tanaiste and Enterprise, Trade and Employment Minister in the Fianna Fail-Green coalition.
Her tenure has been marked by a series of egregious gaffes, of which the most amusing (and probably least harmful) was her attribution to Einstein of Darwin's theory of evolution.
