Five years ago, the average consumer was cash rich and time poor. We wanted everything handed to us on a plate; we wanted it right now and we were prepared to pay for it. The notion of shopping around was effectively scoffed at, and where individuals did shop around they kept quiet about it in case anybody thought they were tight with money. Oh, how times have changed.
