It's business as usual for sex trade
Jim Cusack discovers how easy it is to advertise as a male escort on a website that receives 'nearly 50,000 hits a day'
A helpful young woman with an eastern European accent last week quoted me a price of €150 per month to advertise myself as a "male escort" on Escorts Ireland, the website linked repeatedly to prostitution in Ireland. A one-off week-long advert would cost €100, and if I was moving from place to place to offer my wares and the webpage needed updating, the price per month was €250. I could pay into a bank account in the UK or Ireland or by credit card online.
I merely had to supply Escorts Ireland with details of my "schedule" -- ie, what's on offer -- "rates", "photo ID" and a form of verification.
The "male escorts" advertising on the website were somewhat discreet about what form of service they offer and don't quote prices. But the female escorts leave nothing to the imagination and, in these recessionary times, were offering half-hour services for €20 and even €30 less than they were charging a few years ago.
