The property magnate ditched the jet, hopped on his bike, lost weight and seems happier than ever, says Niamh Horan
Johnny Ronan made his way down the sweeping glass staircase and through the crowd of VIPs who had gathered for the grand opening of the Dublin Convention Centre.
Upstairs, the top echelons on the guest list, including Johnny's Treasury Holdings business partner Richard Barrett and Taoiseach Brian Cowen, were tucking into a silver-service feast but, typical of his form, Johnny wasn't long making his excuses and joining his friends, including music mogul Denis Desmond, several levels below.
With his hair slicked back and beard trimmed in his trademark pirate style, the bronzed property tycoon was in flying form. "Johnny, you're looking great, a bit like Georgie Best," one of the well-heeled crowd quipped as the Treasury Holdings boss passed by.
