THE Government is coming dangerously close to interfering in our planning process through this latest move on the pylons controversy.

It now wants an expert group to examine if a 2012 report it commissioned, and accepted, is good enough to help planners decide if the 100km North-South Interconnector should be erected on pylons, or placed underground.

It's not the job of government to provide reports for An Bord Pleanala when deciding planning applications.
