Given my clamping woes, I've got to stick the boot in
Leo Varadkar's plan to probe clamping industry is better late than never, says Emer O'Kelly
The Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar is about to "examine" the clamping industry. He says he wants to bring in a new system which will protect motorists from exploitation and will benefit legitimate clamping operators "but will still penalise bad parking behaviour".
The examination will be in the hands of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, which will consult interested parties.
(It doesn't seem to have occurred to the minister that the members of the Oireachtas Committee on Transport are not affected by clamping regulations; they have allocated parking in Leinster House at all times, another little TD perk).
