WHEN the Chinese people welcome in the Year of the Horse in 2014, they will forgive us for grimacing in unsavoury recollection.
For us, 2013 unequivocally ushered in the Year of the Horse and January heralded the easiest post-Christmas diet ever undertaken when we were collectively put off our dinners by unappetising revelations about certain budget "beef" products.
After the FSAI announced on January 15 that their testing had revealed that almost 30pc of the meat content of some burgers and frozen lasagne was, in fact, of the neighing origin, revulsion -- and "horse burger" jokes -- swept over this nation of equine lovers.
