Fionnan Sheahan: Kenny is keen to avoid letting the people vote

HIS European Affairs Minister Lucinda Creighton put the chances of an EU referendum being required to pass tough new budgetary rules at "50-50".

Taoiseach Enda Kenny didn't look too impressed when this quote was put to him, as he is trying to play down the prospect of a referendum.

Repeatedly yesterday, he refused to be drawn on the matter.
