VIVE la northside resistance, bud! It was up to a small band of Labour rebels from north of the Liffey to liven up yesterday's special party conference to ratify the coalition deal with Fine Gael.
Even though speakers arguing for and against coalition were given equal time, it seemed as if the pro-Blueshirt forces were winning out.
And then Tommy Broughan, truculent TD for Dublin North-East, stood up and savaged the idea of coalition with Fine Gael.
