Emmet Oliver: Drug companies won't get it all their own way in future

WHILE governments and the medical establishment may lament our increasingly overweight western society, rising levels of obesity and accompanying problems with cholesterol have provided unprecedented profits for a small number of global pharmaceutical giants.
A company like Pfizer, the world's largest drugmaker, has been transformed by the huge global demand for drugs that can lower cholesterol and make heart problems less likely.
However, this demand, which can never be fully satisfied, is a blessing and a curse.
