Elite may be 'entitled' but that doesn't make it right
There are two worlds in Ireland: the world of the privileged and that of those who suffer, writes Eamon Delaney
LAST week, Fintan O'Toole told us about the two worlds in Ireland, that of everyday reality and that of Namaland, and the price we pay for it. But actually the real division between our two worlds is more painful than that: it is those who are suffering in the downturn, which is most of us, and those who are the privileged elite.
It seems, as Joe Duffy said last week, every day we have new revelations about the salaries and perks and privileges of those among the elite. And it just makes people more and more angry.
Duffy was speaking during another Liveline programme of outrage at the huge expenses which former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has been enjoying.
