THE intense moral pressure on hospitals and disability agencies to ditch the pay top-ups has had little effect so far. The reality is that many of them are standing their ground and seem prepared to battle it out.

There has been no great cave-in, even after the latest revelations that the Central Remedial Clinic top-ups were bankrolled by charity donations.

The top-ups exceeded €100,000 for its former chief executive Paul Kiely.
