Eamaon Delaney: Agenda of highlighting all racist incidents may be self-fulfilling
Most migrants just want to get on with their jobs and lives and not get caught up in being the subjects of contentious reports
Two new reports suggest an increase in incidents of racism in Irish society, probably connected to the economic downturn. One report is by the Immigration Council of Ireland and the other is by the Integration Centre.
The latter is based on a notion which many will find quite contentious: the low level of recorded incidents is because they are being under-reported. But perhaps such incidents are simply not happening. The Integration Centre finds it difficult to accept that the rate of incidence here is much less that in the UK. But why?
