Doomsday scenario can be traced back to euro's low interest rates

THE scale of the international interest in Ireland's economic woes shows the extent to which our problems are weighing on the euro.
Indeed, some commentators are suggesting the great euro project could eventually be derailed -- even if our problems are fixed -- as more of our European neighbours get into financial distress.
This is the doomsday scenario for Europe's politicians and for the 16 eurozone countries -- although it is probably unlikely to be realised, in the near-term at least.
