Don Thornhill: Ireland must embrace reform to deliver jobs and growth
LAST year was another very challenging year. Internationally, the fallout from the sovereign and private debt crises of the last few years continues with weak growth or recession across most of the developed world and particularly in the eurozone.
The outcome of the EU summit holds out the promise at last of a break in the vicious downward circle of economic stagnation, currency instability and growing sovereign indebtedness.
Considerable credit is due to our Government and our negotiators for achieving special recognition for Ireland's situation at the summit - requiring careful preparation, generating credibility and seizing the opportunity.
