Declan Lynch: RTE's golden glow more like a red mist
Most 'ordinary people' would have a different opinion on growing up in one-channel land, writes Declan Lynch
Early indications suggest that RTE will be using its 50th birthday to bring us a year of celebrations of itself. A sort of a corporate video presentation stretched out over 12 months.
The tone was established last week in 50 Years In The Glow, which featured "ordinary people" reminiscing about their TV lives. It was what we used to call "a nice programme".
But, of course, it was wildly unrepresentative of the way that "ordinary people" on the whole actually feel about television in general and about RTE in particular.
