Dearbhail McDonald: We need to limit political influence on judges' jobs

THE publication yesterday of the Irish Independent's survey of judges' political links was not an attack on judges' character or integrity.
Nor was it an attempt to undermine judges' vital role and the onerous duties they undertake.
The judiciary has proved time and time again that it is willing to be the shield, sometimes the only shield, to protect us from abuse of state power.
